January Finished

OK, I was working on this piece & then realized that I don't have to fill every single bit of fabric with beads. I didn't want to take away from my heart tree on the left so I started sewing the large beads as dots & then realized it was perfect! They look like snow falling & as I was sewing them, it was snowing! So, August, October & December may not be done, but January is! And before the end of the month!!!!! :)
Of course, the biggest problem is getting a proper picture of it to show what it really looks like. I am open to suggestions if anyone has them. Thanks.

Lovely diaphanous effect -- gives the feeling of illusion quite wonderfully. Simply beautiful . . .

I think it is hard to photograph anything with sparkly shine to it. It certainly is beautiful. Do you use a doubled waxed thread or a single thread?

That is a stunningly gorgeous piece Cindy.. The softness of the pinks is a perfect compliment to the rest of the piece & I love your heart tree
We bought a light tent for me to use when taking pictures of my beaded creations. You don't need a flash but get the detail you need, as you can put bright lights on the outside - or sit it in the sunshine if you wish

It looks great. The photo shows up fine to me. I use a chair placed in front of a bright but not sunny window, turn off the flash and usually get best results using the macro setting. Now, you'll go prove me wrong. I do it this way as the flash wrecks each photo for me.

I have 2 different flash settings & if one doesn't work, the other usually does. I also have those daylight light bulbs in my studio. Maybe I also need a sunny day. Thank you all for the suggestions, I will give them a try & see if I can get a better photo. I just want it to show the white beads as they are.

Hi Cindy. This is Laura in Nashville. Wow! That's really pretty. What do you do with them(your finished bead work)?

I really like this piece you have made for Jan -- I'm a sucker for glitz and achromatic schemes. :) Very nice glitter...I also really like the image of the heart tree!

Sorry don't have any answers to your question on the BJP Blog, having similar thoughts myself now we are midway. However, your January piece is absolutely beautiful and I am so glad you didn't completely bead the piece as it really allows the design to sing.

Wow, so beautiful! And so interesting to use square sequins in a round shape - I just love the flow of this!

I love the flow and authenticity of ALL of your pieces, Cindy! They're all quite different, yet seem related. I guess YOU are the unifying factor.

Photos are always difficult. I have a light tent, but don't like my results with it some of the time. My most consistently good results are when I shoot outside on a slightly overcast day with no flash. If it is too overcast (read that cloudy), the results are dark and somewhat lifeless. If it is too bright, I get too many washed out spots from the glare on the beads. Sometimes I have to shoot a piece several different ways before I get something reasonably good.
